Practical Scoped Rifle

This intermediate range course covers the key skill sets required for rapid, accurate engagement of targets from 25-800 yards in a challenging field environment. The course is designed around the application of hunting rifles, enhanced battle rifles, and shorter-barreled precision rifles in standard calibers. Emphasis is on practical methods for spotting, ranging and putting effective rounds on target in a compressed timeframe, in realistic hunting or tactical scenarios.

The facility also has lodging on site for our students which is included in the course cost.

Prerequisites:

  • LMS Precision Rifle 1, or Practical Carbine; or other equivalent instruction or experience
  • No physical limitations that would preclude traveling in rugged terrain carrying a light backpack and rifle during day or night for distances up to 2 miles

  • Scoped rifle with ZEROED optics with sling and bipod or bag
  • Binoculars with strap or chest harness (spotting scope is optional)
  • Notebook or logbook
  • 10 feet of 550 paracord
  • Personal First-aid-kit with ACE bandage and TQ
  • Shooting sticks (optional, but recommended)
  • Laser rangefinder (optional, but recommended)
  • Backpack for daily support gear
  • Rain gear
  • Appropriate hiking boots / footwear
  • Personal water supply to cover 2 full days of heavy activity
  • Food (breakfast/lunch on Sunday)
  • Sleeping bag / pillow
  • You should be packing for two intensive days in the outdoors and be prepared for a variety of weather as it can change rapidly.

Round count: 200 rounds of the same match or premium grade factory ammunition (handloads must be pre-approved and load data supplied). When purchasing match grade ammunition we recommend that you purchase a case (generally 200 rounds) of the same lot number for consistency.

Student Registration Information

*If there are no seats remaining, you can be added to the waitlist by emailing registrations@lmsdefense.com with the name, date, and location of the course.

A deposit of 50% of the course fee is required to reserve your seat in the class, normally collected within a week after registration. The remaining balance will subsequently be collected 5-7 days before the class.

Student initiated cancelations at least 14 days prior to class date are refundable MINUS a $25 per day processing fee.
Student cancelations less than 14 days prior to class are NON REFUNDABLE.

Students should expect classes to run rain or shine, though LMS reserves the right to cancel due to extreme weather (cold, snow).
LMS initiated cancelations will receive a full refund.

Refunds may be applied as credits at the student's discretion. Credits remain valid for 2 years.
